Spring Return Actuators


ICI‘s electric spring return actuators were designed for systems using quarter turn valves and dampers requiring protection against catastrophic system failure upon loss of electricity resulting in costly loss of process media and lost production. Our spring return actuators are available in four sizes with a maximum spring end torque of 1000 lb × in torque. These heavy-duty spring return actuators are manufactured for fail-safe applications only and are not intended for use on control applications. These machines are equipped with hardened steel spur gear drive train guaranteeing high efficiency, quiet operation and long trouble free life.

The heavy-duty sand-cast aluminum enclosure meets NEMA 4 specifications and has a thermally bonded ultraviolet resistant polyester powder coating that not only enhances its appearance but also is a tough corrosion resistant coating.

                
 

MODEL ES2

Model ES@ is a light duty actuator designed for fail-safe applications. For best life expectancy it is recommended that model ES2 be powered in both clockwise (CW) and counter clockwise (CCW) directions. If used in this manner one can expect over 2,000 open/close cycles. When allowed to spring to the fail position as the normal model of operation the life of the actuator is severly shortened. ES2 has a spring end torque of 200 in·lb with a closing speed of 3 sec./90° upon loss of power. This actuator is ideally suited for ball valves and dampers with torque ratings of up to 145 in·lb.

Standard equipment includes 115Vac-1ph 25% duty cycle motor with thermal over load protection, set to fail closed (CW rotation) upon loss of power, two limit switches, power on brake, stainless steel fasteners, 300 series stainless steel output drive, polyester powder coating.

MODEL AS4

Model AS4 electric spring return actuator is a robust heavy-duty actuator recommended for systems requiring as many as 74 cycles per day (approximately 27,000 annually). Like model ES2 the operating cycle life of the actuator is drastically affected by the model of operation, power to open and close will provide for years of reliable performance. AS4 has a spring end torque of 400 lb·in with a closing speed of 3 sec./90 degrees upon loss of power. This actuator is ideally suited for ball valves and dampers with torque ratings of up to 300 lb·in.

Standard equipment includes 115Vac-1ph Ccontinuous duty motor with thermal over load protection, set to fail closed (CW rotation) upon loss of power, two limit switches, power on brake, stainless steel fasteners, 300 series stainless steel output drive, polyester powder coating.
